What we can learn from the Superbowl, the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos

To the surprise of some, the lopsided dominance of Seattle in the Superbowl Sunday was no surprise, unless you were Denver. Throughout the season, Denver and Seattle played with outstanding numbers and sometimes mind-blowing plays to get them to the Superbowl. The game is supposed to be a testament to the best teams in the NFL; the teams that have overcome the odds and proven that they deserve to be at the culmination event that caps off the season. Both teams were deserving of playing in the Superbowl, but it became obvious after only a few minutes of play that something was not quite clicking for Denver.

Being a championship team is something to take great pride in, but winning the Superbowl is just the icing on the cake. It takes skill, planning and teamwork to get to into the NFL; it takes strength, passion, desire, drive and dedication and a collective spirit to dominate to win a Superbowl. That spirit was present Sunday night as Seattle dominated the field from the time the clock started. Denver never really seemed to be the refined and poised professionals and a series of mistakes and turnovers just added to the downhill slide.

So what can be learned from the latest Superbowl? It’s not all about the commercials. Sometimes football can be translated into many metaphors for life. Perseverance and exceptional talent lead incredible individuals to the pinnacle of success; the same can be said for any individual. Teamwork and hard work can pay off; the same can be said of any successful business. It takes more than a team to succeed; coaches, players, trainers, nutritionists, and even ball-boys all have a role to play in order to win. Don’t be underestimated; Seattle wasn’t given much of a chance but succeeded. Don’t forget about support; the infamous 12th man in Seattle loomed large in New Jersey, over 3000 miles away.

Like most people, everyone strives for the best; to be the best at what they do and to win the big game. It’s the same for our business. With a team of over 180 employees and staff, we work hard every day to motivate, inspire and encourage our team to be the very best they can be. This is a philosophy that starts with the owner and trickles through every member of the Lakeland Automall team. We know we’re not superior athletes in the NFL sense, but we do have a sales team that is continually training and working to make the buying experience the best it can possibly be. We have a service department that continually goes through certifications to stay on top of the latest trends and technologies. We have a management staff that is coaching and developing new talent while making sure that every customer has the best possible experience the can.

We hope we can live up to the phenomenal expectations that are required to be part of our business every day. Although our success doesn’t culminate in one final game, we work every day to make sure every one of our customers feels like they are part of the winning team and that they have the support and encouragement from the best in the business.
