
The work of educators is a selfless job and getting recognition for the efforts spent year round in helping to develop the futures of all of our children should be celebrated. Today at Lake Gibson High School in Lakeland, FL with the help if Lakeland Automall, recognition was well deserved.
As you may already be aware, Lakeland Automall has worked with the Polk County Education Foundation for the past several years in bringing something special to the Polk County Teacher of the Year award winner. This year was no exception even though the state of Florida moved the eligibility requirements to the prior year for the next full year award term. This meant that the winner of the 2021/2022 TOY would end with 2022 and the new TOY recipient would be for the entire 2023 year even though school years are split into fall and spring semesters spanning a period of 2 years.
Polk County Schools worked feverishly to make sure those requirements were met and on December 7, 2022 the Official award presentation was held at the R.P. Funding Center and ‘live streamed’ as the Inspire Awards.
Lakeland Automall’s commitment was to provide a vehicle to the winner as a portion of their prize. Although the announcement was made the day of the event, timing commitments delayed the delivery of the vehicle to the 2023 winner Natalie McSwain. Today was the day…
