The hype, the performance and the style – Not just words but action!
At Lakeland Ford, we anticipate the annual release of new models every year, but for some reason, the public has spoken and keeps wanting to know more about the two biggest Ford model releases for 2015 – the Mustang and F-150. For this article we’ll concentrate on the 2015 Ford Mustang since we saw it first hand at the NADA (National Automotive Dealers Association) Conference in January in New Orleans. We were able to walk around two different models and peek under the hood, sit in the driver’s seat and kick the tires (Sorry, we weren’t allowed to actually drive one). The surprising thing about the release back in January was that the momentum hadn’t even begun; it took a few months before photos started to circulate and interest among car enthusiasts began to take hold. The new design was probably the biggest discussion on the blog postings and among the Mustang groups across the country. Then in June Ford started a small tour of the 2015 Mustang – not even telling their own dealerships it would be arriving for a ‘preview’. At Lakeland Ford, by the time word started to spread that the car had arrived, it was being whisked off to another undisclosed dealer. We had about 2 hours with the car. Our salespeople could look at it, take pictures and ask the Ford Team questions about performance and features. Then it was over. The excitement and buzz about Lakeland Ford actually having a 2015 Mustang on the lot was gone. All that was left was the memory of what it looked like, a few blurry cellphone pictures and a Ford Team that wouldn’t (or couldn’t) confirm a solid “at dealership” delivery date.
What we were left with was the steady trickle of information that Ford was producing to promote the new model and its features. Not that we have any more information than we did in June, (we think Ford is secretly manufacturing Mustangs and hiding them) but the rumor is the first 2015 Mustang models will be coming soon…. So how soon is soon? If we really know, we would have to have signed affidavits of confidentiality witnessed by six attorneys and co-signed by a circuit court judge before we could tell you we weren’t allowed to tell you. What we can tell is is included in the rest of this article… we’re just glad we didn’t have to sign in blood!
The Design
Ford says that the design is entirely new, but the soul is entirely Mustang. That’s like saying that you just shed 50 lbs. and put on 20 lbs. of muscle with six-pack abs. You can bet the 2015 Ford Mustang is more than just a pretty shell – it’s got the guts to back up the punch everyone expects. With the first major exterior re-design in years, the reflection of the Mustang shadow looms large. Sweeping lines and bold exterior curves gives the 2015 Mustang a look that rivals it’s muscle car image of the past.
The Cockpit
There is a strange similarity between the Mustang car and the Mustang airplane. Both make you feel like you’re in complete control and both can take you places you’ve never been before. The Performance
